What should I do immediately after a work injury?

After a work injury, it’s important to follow the correct process:

  1. Report your injury to the Health and Safety department at your workplace.
  2. Book an appointment with your primary physician to have your injury assessed. Your doctor will help you initiate a claim with the Workers Compensation Board (WCB).
  3. Once you receive your claim number, you can immediately book an initial physiotherapy assessment with us. You don’t have to wait for further approval. The earlier you start treatment, the better your recovery outcome.

What is the cost of work injury sessions?
The cost for work injury rehabilitation sessions are fully covered once your WCB adjuster approves your treatment plan. The initial assessment is typically pre-approved by your adjuster.
After the assessment is completed and the physiotherapist submits the report, the adjuster will review it to approve a block of treatment sessions.
Using our online system, we can verify if your claim is approved. Once confirmed, your future sessions will be scheduled at no cost to you.
What happens during my initial physiotherapy assessment?
During your initial assessment, the physiotherapist will evaluate your condition and create a tailored treatment plan. This may include:

  • Hands-on therapy (manual therapy)
  • Electrotherapy
  • Intramuscular Stimulation (IMS)
  • Stretching exercises
  • A progressive strengthening program

After the assessment, the physiotherapist will submit a detailed report to WCB, recommending the appropriate number of sessions per week and the duration of your treatment plan.
How long will recovery take?
Recovery time varies depending on the type and severity of your injury. The physiotherapist will assess your condition and, based on their findings, estimate the time needed for full recovery. Typically, this involves a combination of pain management, mobility exercises, and strength training.
How does the WCB process work for physiotherapy?
Once you’ve reported your injury and received a claim number, you can begin treatment right away. We’ll bill WCB directly for your sessions, and our team will coordinate with WCB on your progress and any additional sessions required.
What types of treatments are involved in post-work injury physiotherapy?
Your treatment plan will be customized based on your needs but may include manual therapy, electrotherapy, exercises for flexibility and strength, and guidance on safe return-to-work strategies.
