What is it?

How is it caused?
Golfer’s elbow is caused by overuse or repetitive stress, particularly activities that involve repeated flexing, gripping, or swinging. These motions can strain the muscles and tendons of the forearm, leading to small tears and inflammation. Common activities that can lead to golfer’s elbow include:
- Swinging a golf club or tennis racket
- Lifting weights improperly
- Throwing a ball
- Repetitive wrist flexion or gripping activities, such as using tools or typing
How do we treat it?
The initial stages of golfer’s elbow can be treated by activity modification and rest. A physical therapist can develop a personalized exercise program to strengthen the forearm muscles, improve flexibility, and reduce stress on the tendons. Gentle stretching and strengthening exercises can help improve the condition. Common exercises include wrist flexor stretches, wrist curls, and reverse wrist curls.
